Wake Up Your Day With Sound Rituals.

One of the most important parts of my day is the morning. And if I don’t get it right, it could mean the beginning of the end of that day. I noticed that as I got older, my mind morphed into a haven for internal corruption – all self inflicted.  You see, once upon a time, feelings of  anxiety, curiosity and worry, greeted me as I opened my eyes. It was all so heavy. And for what? I don’t even know. That’s just the way it was. Thankfully, it’s no longer the case.

I simply had to find a way to get out of my own head. To end the incessant worrying about all kinds of crap. To simply stop agonizing about the things I had absolutely no control over. STOP, “I said.” And I did. It took time of course, but I stopped.

My mornings are very different now.  They are not perfect, but they contain lots of peacefulness, stillness and gratefulness.  And it’s all because I wake up my day with these 9 rituals.

1. Prayer

Prayer is powerful. I believe in its power. It’s been my saving grace. It’s the first thing I do every morning. It grounds me and allows me to start my day off with gratefulness, thankfulness and worthiness.

2. Breathing

Second to prayer is breathing. For 3-5 minutes, I do the 4-7-8 breathing technique, which I learned from Dr. Andrew Weil. It does wonders for my nervous system and my peace of mind.

3. Stillness

After prayer, I enjoy 5 minutes of stillness. Not thinking, not wondering, doing absolutely nothing, just being. I sit with a blank slate, which helps me to start each day with a clean slate.

4. Light A Soy Candle

It lends to the peace and calm I would like to experience. The clean, fresh scent of essential oils are uplifting and invigorating.

5. Dry Skin Brushing

In a candle lit bathroom, most mornings I treat my body to Dry skin brushing. It’s effects are amazing and takes two minutes. It improves digestion; increases circulation, lymphatic drainage, and removes toxins, which results in improved kidney function; increases skin’s elasticity; rejuvenates the nervous system. Not to mention the smoothing effect it has on my skin. Love it.

6. Read  A Devotional

I have a few devotionals that I read ( some include, Jesus Calling, A woman after God’s own heart, Joel Osteen’s, I Declare). It’s usually a paragraph, filled with the most stimulating, enriching, wise words, that most times seem to speak directly to me. It’s as if the words were created with the intent to target my wandering thoughts. My devotionals keep me in sync with my purpose and my God.

7. Hot Water and Lemon

This ritual does wonders for the body. Prepares my body for digestion, balances pH, boost my mood and so much more. It cleared up a nail fungus I had for years and also wiped away liver spots that my husband had on his right ankle ares. It’s the S^!T. I assure you.

8. Essential Oil Diffuser

Diffusers are marvelous mood enhancing vectors. Currently, I’m using a diffuser and essential oils from Young Living. The aromatherapy fragrance fills the room and helps me mentally, physically and emotionally. In the mornings, I run the diffuser for 3 to 5 minutes with invigorating and mood boosting oils. My favorites for the morning, from young living are peace and calming, and joy. So, while i’m carrying out the other parts of my morning ritual, the diffuser is doing its good thing.

9. Get up. Get dressed and Get out

Dressing with intention to start my day makes a world of difference. I feel ready to take on the work needed to meet the goals i’ve set for each day. Even when I work from home, my attire is for progress and success, regardless of how small.

And then it’s breakfast – Good, green juice – and off to face my day with whatever it has in store for me.
